Give Him A New Song For A New Year

Posted on 26 December, 2018 at 22:25

"Oh, clap your hands, all you people! Shout to God with the voice of triumph! Sing praises to God, sing praises, sing praises! Sing praises to our King, sing praises! For God is the King of all the earth; sing praises with understanding." Psalm 47:1, 6, 7

Good morning Brothas and Sistas,

As we journey through the memories of this past year I pray we do it with sheer adoration and praise for the One who has so valiantly brought us through it. He saw fit to get us through so many things and while we stand in awe and excitement on the threshold of new things to come, we can't do nothing but shout, "Thank You Lord for you have been faithful"

If you are anything like me, if your story is anything at all like my story, you have had some trials in your life that you know that if it had not been for the Lord who was on your side you would have been swallowed up in defeat this year, BUT GOD! And because He has been so awesomely, extraordinarily good we need to give Him some off the hook Tehillah praise! Tehillah praise means to sing, to laud (to praise highly, glorify, acclaim, celebrate, compliment, honor, extol).

Tehillah praise springs forth a spontaneous new song. This type of praise cannot be confined. It is singing from a melody that comes from the depths of ones' heart. It is the type praise that creates a song that is birthed from ones' experiences with Him. It does not necessarily have a particular pattern, it is unrehearsed and unprepared, so the definition says. But I believe that the song was rehearsed and prepared in the heart of God sent straight down from the throne room via the Holy Spirit to saturate the soul and spirit of the worshipper willing and ready to receive it. We call this CRAZY OFF THE CHAIN PRAISE!

You know how it is when we spend time with Him and He showers us with His sweet and precious promises we want to return the favor by openly serenading Him in the presence of other believers of like heart and mind. Hallelujah! Tehillah praise allows the true worshiper to sing directly to God without apprehension or fear of those around them. This is the type of praise that wants to love up on Him and Him only. Let's look at what Psalm 47 has to say about it for you see David is petitioning, beckoning, challenging us to sing praise to our King and our God of all the earth." And then he goes on to say, "Sing praise with understanding."

The definition of understanding is comprehension or personal interpretation. I like that for you see in order for us to praise Him we must first come to the full comprehension of who He is by way of us personally encountering His goodness and that promotes our own personal interpretation of who and what He is to us which in turn ignites a fire within to render Him some Tehillah praise, some out of control praise! Brothas and Sistas, take some time to reflect upon the past year. I bet you can't hold back from offfering Him some real Tehillah praise!!! Give Him a New Song for a new day, for a New Year!

Prayer of Faith

Lord, we praise you for what's to come in the New Year! We praise you for us making it to a new year! We praise you for you! In Jesus name we pray! Amen.
