"How Do We Love Today's Youth - Becoming The Village That God Would Have Us To Be"
Posted on 8 May, 2020 at 6:43 |
"Father provoke not your children to wrath, but bring them up in the admonition of the Lord." Ephesians 6:4 "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." Proverbs 22:6 (NIV) Good morning Brothas and Sistas, Today's youth need more attention now than ever before. They live in a society where sex, violence and drugs are promoted and accepted. They have more peer pressure to face and overcome than any generation before them. Not only is society discouraging the youth from facing their problems but society also never seems to have a solution on how to make the situation better. Brothas and Sistas, who is willing to help? As dark as things may seem, there is hope. The hope comes from parents and community leaders working together hand in hand, giving children a positive foundation. These real life role models should be willing to invest time and energy to improve children's future. The old African proverb says- "It takes a whole village to raise one child." Brothas and Sistas, how many of us are guilty of seeing a wayward child in our community and quickly blame each other as if it is not our problem? We must realize that it is our problem. Much too often we give the children ultimatums instead of alternatives. This conflict is at the center of most of the problems between parents and their children. Ephesians 6:4 says, "Father provoke not your children to wrath, but bring them up in the admonition of the Lord." So if we are to restore the moral values and the God-fearing principles that defends the character of our children, it is up to us to be doers and not just hearers of God's words. Proverbs 22:6 (NIV) says, "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." Now with all that's been said, I must ask you, my Brothas and Sistas one more time, "How do we love today's youth?" The answer is we must become the village that God would have us to be" Peace, Love, and never hurt those you love, Josette Bolden Prayer of Faith Dear Lord, Thank you for our youth. May we learn to be patient with them, unconditionally love them and support them. Help us to become the village that you called us to be. Protect our children from the enemy that wants to destroy them, May we pray for them daily. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. |
